An asbestos re-inspection survey could be required once an initial asbestos management survey has been conducted and asbestos was presumed or identified as being present within a building or site. A re-inspections survey is usually carried out on a continual 6 or 12-month cycle and forms part of an asbestos management plan.
A re-inspection survey will comprise of a visual inspection of asbestos containing materials (ACMs), labels, associated signage and any materials being used to enclose ACM’s. A ‘material assessment’ is also undertaken to determine the risk they present and if any remedial actions required.
A good working practice is to take new photos of each inspection. The photos, along with information gathered from visual inspections and results of ‘material assessment’ are then used to update the asbestos register within the asbestos management plan.
